Kentucky playing in their 5th straight game away from Rupp defeated the 6th ranked Boilermakers. The Cats were led by Junior Nazr Mohammed’s 19 points.

CHICAGO - Nazr Mohammed scored a season-high 19 points as seventh-ranked Kentucky used an 11-0 burst early in the second half to post an 89-75 victory over number five Purdue in the Great Eight Classic at the United Center in Chicago.

Wayne Turner added 14 points and Jeff Sheppard 11 for Kentucky (5-1), which has won three straight games since losing to Arizona in the semifinals of the Maui Invitational. The Wildcats also topped 80 points for the first time since a season-opening 88-49 victory over Morehead State. (Link)

Ten years ago today 8th ranked Kentucky defeated 13th ranked Clemson 76-61.  Wayne Turner led UK with 17 points, while Kentucky native Greg Buckner (pictured above) scored a game high 19.  The game was played in Phoenix as part of the Premier Classic.  The victory avenged the previous season’s overtime loss to Clemson in the BCA Classic.

Ten years ago the Cats were wrapping up a trip to Maui.  UK opened the tournament by defeating George Washington, then lost to defending champs Arizona.  Kentucky finished up their trip with a victory over Missouri.  Jamaal Magloire led Kentucky with 18 points in the victory.

Ten years ago today, The ninth ranked Kentucky Wildcats opened their season with an 88 – 49 victory over Morehead. Allen Edwards led all scorers with 15 points.
